The Organizational Learning & Development team plans, develops, and delivers non-technical County-wide training and development programs for County employees, including New Employee Orientation, leadership development, and team and individual skills training. OL&D also assists departments and agencies with development and delivery of customized training programs and development of strategies to improve workgroup or team performance.

New Employee Orientation -
In an effort to better meet the needs of our newly hired employees the New
Employee Orientation (NEO) is being extended by one-half hour beginning with
the September 5, 2007 session. With this new timeframe, orientation will
continue to begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. but will end at 12:30 p.m., 30
minutes later than our current schedule. NEO is offered the first, third,
and fifth Wednesday of every month in the Administration Building
located at 111 South Cherry Street in Olathe, Kansas,
unless otherwise noted.

Mandatory Harassment Awareness Training - Johnson County Government is committed to ensuring and maintaining a productive and discrimination-free work environment. Since all employees are responsible for understanding and following the County’s Equal Opportunity in Employment and Productive Work Environment Policies, mandatory harassment awareness training sessions are currently being developed at the departmental level.
Supervisor Training Institute (STI) - This series provides supervisors with an overview of Johnson County Government mission, values and structure; leadership competencies and effective practices; legal aspects of supervision; recruitment, interviewing, and selection guidelines; classification and compensation philosophy and procedures; performance management tools and techniques; and leadership in a diverse environment. Each module includes a review of related County policies.
STEP Forward - The STEP Forward program is designed to give Johnson County Government employees a variety of tools and skills that enable them to perform their jobs with excellence and contribute to the achievement of the County's mission and strategic goals.
The Cadre is a group of County employees who volunteer their time and talents to plan and deliver the STEP Forward curriculum and/or assist departments and agencies with meeting facilitation.
