Additional Information Regarding the Hiring Process:

Step 1: A new job is posted

  • New positions are posted on the Jobs Available site on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
  • Positions are open for a minimum of 6 days.
  • You can “Like” us on Facebook to see updates with the new positions that are posted.

Step 2: Applications are submitted

  • Applicants must fill out the Johnson County Government Application Form.
  • Once completed they should save the application to their computer and then fill out the Job Submission Form, attaching their application, cover letter, and resume.
  • All applications must be received by 4 pm on the closing date to be considered.

Step 3: Applications are reviewed

  • The hiring manager and HR partner begin reviewing applications after the position closes; this process generally takes two to three weeks.
  • Applicants must meet all the minimum qualifications to be considered for the position.

Step 4: Interviews

  • The candidates that most closely meet the required and preferred qualifications will be contacted for a phone screen or to schedule an interview.

Step 5: Offer of employment

  • Once a top candidate is identified, background screenings and reference checks are completed.  Certain departments may require additional testing.
  • When the backgrounds checks are successfully completed, a job offer will be extended to the candidate.
  • Applicants who were interviewed but not selected for the position will be notified that the position has been filled.
