Position Summary:

 The Johnson County Crime Laboratory, a division of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, is seeking a qualified applicant for a part time position in the Drug Chemistry Section. The major duties of the position include qualitative analyses using wet chemistry, color reagent tests, microscopy, and instrumental techniques (GC-MS, FTIR) to identify controlled substances, precursors and other substances used in the preparation and synthesis of illicit drugs. Findings are reported in technical reports and scientists provide effective expert testimony regarding Drug Chemistry analysis in District, Municipal and Federal courts of law. Position Summary:

This position is responsible for processing admission clients for the youth substance abuse residential facility. This process entails the following duties: searching and taking inventory of clients clothing and hygiene articles, providing tour of the facility to the client and his/her parents, orienting the client to the facility, obtaining client urine drug screens, assigning a room for the client, and processing admissions paperwork. Other responsibilities are the following: supervision and care of adolescents in a residential alcohol/drug treatment program. Duties include facilitating client activities/groups; documenting activities and events; assisting client to accomplish treatment plan goals; managing client behavior; and performing others duties specific to the shift such as bed checks, chart audits, transportation/supervision of appointments and outings, Must be able to work effectively as a team member. Must participate in professional training and staff meetings, as required.

Qualifications:

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience working in a human services setting. An Associate’s degree in a human services field and AAPS Substance Abuse Counselor certification are preferred. (Education may be substituted for experience.)

This position also requires a valid driver’s license. Must pass criminal background check and post-employment physical examination.
